WWDC 2024: Apple Unveils macOS Sequoia with Support for iPhone Mirroring, Passwords App

macOS Sequoia

During WWDC 2024, Apple introduced macOS Sequoia as the latest iteration of its desktop operating system for Mac computers. Set to be released later this year, macOS Sequoia, succeeding macOS Sonoma, will bring a host of new features to eligible Mac models.

One significant addition is iPhone Mirroring, allowing users to wirelessly access their smartphone directly from their Mac’s screen, even when the iPhone is out of reach or locked. Notifications from the iPhone will also be mirrored onto macOS Sequoia, enabling seamless interaction without the need to pick up the smartphone.

Furthermore, macOS Sequoia will harness the power of Apple Intelligence, leveraging the Neural Engine for on-device artificial intelligence capabilities. These include a more capable Siri, text proofreading and rewriting, and image generation through Image Playground. Additionally, enhancements to the Photos app will enable the generation of themed Collections and improved search functionality, even within video content.

In a significant move, macOS Sequoia will introduce native support for window tiling, rendering third-party window management tools obsolete. The Messages app will also receive updates, including support for emoji and sticker Tapback reactions akin to iOS 18.

Notably, certain features enabled by Apple Intelligence, such as Image Playground and text summarization, will be exclusive to Mac models equipped with Apple Silicon chips like M1, M2, or M3. These enhancements prioritize user privacy while delivering advanced AI capabilities.

Overall, macOS Sequoia promises to elevate the Mac user experience with a blend of convenience, productivity, and privacy-enhancing features.
